What's Your Firm's AI Readiness Score?
August 24, 2026
87% of legal professionals are using or experimenting with AI. Only 14.4% are very confident it's delivering real value. That's the headline finding from our State of AI Readiness in Legal 2026 report, and it raises an obvious question: where does your firm actually sit on that spectrum?
We built a free tool to answer it.
Six questions. Three foundations.
The AI Readiness Diagnostic takes about a minute. Six questions, covering the three foundations our report identifies as the real difference between firms that are ready to scale AI safely and firms that aren't:
- Structured knowledge: how organized and findable your firm's information actually is
- Clear governance: whether you have a formal AI policy, and whether you actually know what tools your lawyers are using
- Connected systems: how well your AI tools integrate with the rest of your tech stack
Answer honestly (no one's grading you in real time) and you'll see your snapshot across all three areas the moment you finish.
See how you compare, not just where you land
A number on its own is only half useful. That's why your results are benchmarked against the 160 firms in our original survey. For context: only 34.4% said yes when asked if their firm is ready to scale AI safely, and firms without a formal governance framework are more than twice as likely to have no visibility into which AI tools their own lawyers are using day to day, 64% versus 28% for firms that do have one.
Once you submit, we send the fuller breakdown straight to your inbox, along with the on-demand recording of our live panel discussion and the full State of AI Readiness in Legal 2026 report itself. One form, three things back.
We heard the same thing live
When we walked through these findings with a panel of knowledge and research leaders at our August event, Fragmented, Ungoverned, Unconfident, the room's own answers echoed the data almost exactly. Asked in real time whether they could say precisely what AI tools their lawyers use, most said only roughly, not with real confidence, the same governance-visibility gap the diagnostic measures. The panel also kept circling back to a theme worth sitting with: fragmented knowledge systems don't just fail to fix AI's confidence problem, they can make it worse, since a fluent-sounding answer built on messy underlying data still sounds fluent. That's the session you'll get sent when you take the diagnostic.
Why it's worth a minute
Even firms that feel confident about their AI setup are often surprised by what the breakdown shows. That tracks with what we found in the underlying research: firms without formal governance are far more likely to have no idea which AI tools their own lawyers are using, and even among the most AI-active firms, most aren't confident they're ready to scale safely.
Whichever way your three scores land, you'll know more about your firm's actual position than a gut feeling gets you, and you'll have the full report and the panel recording waiting in your inbox to go with it.
Find out where you stand
It takes about a minute. Your snapshot is instant, and the full breakdown, recording, and report land straight in your inbox.
