When we walked through these findings with a panel of knowledge and research leaders at our August event, Fragmented, Ungoverned, Unconfident, the room's own answers echoed the data almost exactly. Asked in real time whether they could say precisely what AI tools their lawyers use, most said only roughly, not with real confidence, the same governance-visibility gap the diagnostic measures. The panel also kept circling back to a theme worth sitting with: fragmented knowledge systems don't just fail to fix AI's confidence problem, they can make it worse, since a fluent-sounding answer built on messy underlying data still sounds fluent.
