It's time for another podcast review. As I get more accustomed to life in America, driving an hour and a half away for a meeting, a hike, an event is becoming more of the norm, and it would not be the same if I did not have my endless supply of podcasts to keep me company.
Today I am talking about the trivia podcast: Good Job Brain. Originally a Kickstarter project, it is now up there amongst my favourite podcasts, combining as it does trivia and humour, two of my favourite things.
A weekly podcast, you get about an hour of both trivia and offbeat news, with entertaining panelists and guest presenters each week. The presenters are "Karen, Colin, Dana, and Chris. We love pub trivia, breakfast cereal, portmanteau words, and animal facts".
What will you learn? All sorts of useful facts and tools. Have you always had trouble memorising the first 13 colonies in the order in which they were admitted to the union? Easy: DePend on Jerky George to con the masses.Mary's scams harm virgin Yorkies, not carnal rhinos. (Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island).
And so much more: the background to the @ symbol in email addresses, the regional accents of cows, the history and hidden meanings of codes, idiom challenges and, as you can imagine, the list goes on and on.
If you like to laugh and learn at the same time, Good Job Brain is your new buddy.
